Questions? We’re here to help.
Estate sales can feel overwhelming, especially if you’ve never been through the process before. We’re here to make things as simple as possible. Below are answers to some of the questions we hear most often.
-
We take care of the process from beginning to end. After an initial consultation, our team sorts, organizes, researches, prices, and stages the items in the home. We then photograph and advertise the sale, manage the sale days, handle customer transactions, and oversee the entire process. After the sale is complete, we reconcile the proceeds and provide you with your portion of the sale.
-
Wishing Well Estate Sales operates on a commission-based structure, meaning our fee is a percentage of the total sales proceeds. We'll explain our commission rate and any potential additional costs during your free initial consultation, so you'll have a clear understanding of our pricing before moving forward.
Because our compensation is tied to the success of your sale, our goal is the same as yours: to get the best reasonable return from the contents of the estate.
-
No! In fact, we encourage you not to.
There's no need to organize cabinets, closets, drawers, garages, basements, or other areas before your consultation. And please don't start throwing things away just because they don't appear valuable. Everyday household items that may seem insignificant can often be sold individually or grouped together.
Let us take a look first. You may be surprised by what has value.
Normal sorting, organization, and staging are part of our service. Properties requiring unusually extensive cleaning, odor remediation, pet-waste cleanup, large-scale trash removal, or similar work may require an additional fee, which will be discussed with you beforehand.
-
Very little! We actually prefer to see the home and its contents as they are.
If possible, identify anything you know you or your family intend to keep. You should also secure important personal items such as medications, financial documents, identification, cash that isn't part of the sale, and other confidential materials.
Otherwise, leave the sorting to us.

Estate sales aren't limited to antiques. Depending on the property, we may sell furniture, artwork, collectibles, jewelry, kitchenware, tools, home décor, clothing, electronics, outdoor equipment, books, seasonal items, household goods, and much more.
Part of our job is determining what is marketable and how it should be presented and priced.
-
We consider current market demand, condition, desirability, comparable sales, and available research when determining prices.
For unusual, collectible, or higher-value pieces, we take additional time to research the item and determine an appropriate starting price. Our goal is to balance getting a strong return with pricing merchandise appropriately for the estate-sale market.
-
No. We generally ask that clients and family members not be present during public sale hours.
We handle customer questions, negotiations, payments, and the day-to-day operation of the sale. Allowing our team to manage the sale independently also helps avoid potentially uncomfortable situations when customers are purchasing personal or sentimental belongings.
You can leave the sale to us.

Every estate is different. The amount of preparation required depends on factors such as the size of the home, quantity and condition of the contents, research required, and the amount of organization needed.
Most estate sales require approximately 1–2 weeks of preparation, although larger or more complex estates may take additional time. After viewing the property, we'll discuss the anticipated preparation timeline and sale dates with you so you know what to expect.
